What Is Fighting EX Layer?
Once upon a time, there was the Street Fighter EX series, which was a spin-off of the main Street Fighter series created by a collaboration between Arika and Capcom. For some time, Arika has been seeking to make a new installment in said series, but so far, its efforts have met with nothing but rejection from Capcom. However, it is interesting to note that the people at Arika used footage from the prototype of a 3D fighting game to make a trailer for April Fools’ Day in 2017, which received such an enthusiastic response from interested individuals that they decided to go ahead with a self-funded passion project in spite of the risks inherent to such a process. Recently, the resulting product called Fighting EX Layer was released for the PlayStation 4 in June of 2018, which might not be a true successor to the Street Fighter EX series but is very much a spiritual successor to the same.
Is Fighting EX Layer Lacking In Features?
Unfortunately, Fighting EX Layer seems to have a serious problem in that it is rather lacking in features. For example, it didn’t even have an arcade mode until one was added at the end of July, but even now, it remains bare-bones in nature, as shown by the fact that it has no ends and no cut-scenes. This is particularly disappointing because one of Arika’s previous games called Fighting Layer had both bosses and mini-games, but since the release of the arcade mode, there might still be hope for the future.
