Streets Of Rage 4

Do You Remember Streets Of Rage?

Once upon a time, side-scrolling beat ’em up games were very popular. For proof, look no further than Sega’s Streets of Rage series, which consisted of three main installments that have been released and re-released on a wide range of both Sega and non-Sega platforms.

With that said, while Streets of Rage was one of Sega’s most popular series in the 1990s, the three main installments were released between 1991 and 1994. Since that time, no new main installment has been released, though there have been a number of failed attempts. However, it has now been confirmed that there will indeed be a Streets of Rage 4 made by Lizardcube, which should be best-known to most people for the remake of another Sega classic called Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Trap, as well as Guard Crush Games, which has created a game called Streets of Fury that was inspired by but not related to the Streets of Rage series mentioned here.

What Is Streets Of Rage 4?

Currently, not a lot of information has been revealed about Streets of Rage 4. For instance, we don’t actually know which platforms the game will be released on, though considering that Sega has gotten out of the console game, it seems reasonable to speculate that it will be released on a wide range of platforms sooner rather than later. With that said, we do know that Streets of Rage 4 will be featuring the same kind of side-scrolling beat ’em up gameplay as its predecessors while boasting a new story as well as new fighting mechanics. Moreover, it has been stated that both Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding will be returning as playable characters, which makes sense because both of them have been playable characters in all of the preceding games.

On the whole, there is no real way to predict whether Streets of Rage 4 will turn out well or not. However, nostalgia means that there is a clear market for the series, particularly since it wouldn’t be the sole side-scrolling beat ’em up series to make a return from the seeming grave in recent times.
