Mortal Kombat 11 Cetrion

The people behind Mortal Kombat 11 have released a trailer for a second new character called Cetrion. Moveset-wise, she uses a wide range of elemental powers such as restraining her enemies with vines and pummeling her enemies with huge rocks. However, the stand-out was her fatality, which saw her growing to a god-like scale before blasting her opponent with a huge blast of energy.

Speaking of which, it should be noted that the descriptor “god-like” is very appropriate for Cetrion. This is because she is an Elder God, which is interesting because said entities have been hands-off for the most part in the Mortal Kombat setting. However, it seems likely that Cetrion is stepping in for very personal reasons, seeing as how she has been revealed to be Shinnok’s sister. Moreover, both Cetrion and Shinnok are the children of Kronika, who is the prime mover behind the events of Mortal Kombat 11.

As such, it will be very interesting to see what kind of narrative role Cetrion will take up. On the one hand, nature-themed characters are often good-aligned; on the other hand, there is a reason that nature is often described as being “red in tooth and claw.”
