Super Mario Maker 2 Cheats and Tips
We are thrilled to bring you the latest tips and cheats for Super Mario Maker 2, a game that lets players unlock their highest levels of creativity.
Super Mario Maker 2 features so much content, from useful tools to cool unique tricks, the game is loaded with amazing features, and most have yet to be discovered!
Like this one, you probably had no idea that light switches in the game control more than just the lights! In game, the switches are known to also power conveyor belts and spikes. This is like the musical note blocks, which have different uses depending on the types of enemies that hit them. Super Mario Maker 2 really encompasses what it means to be unique, and each player can craft a world unlike any other.
We’ve compiled a list of the most useful features that we know of so far, from more common tricks to the least known. We hope this list helps you unlock the full power of Super Mario Maker 2.
#1. Interface Controls (Super Mario Maker 2 Cheats and Tips)
Accessing the options for objects and enemies requires a long press on the enemy or object in question. Doing so brings up every available option for that enemy/object. Using a goomba for example, we were able to make him bigger by giving him a mushroom from the list of options. And depending on the world style, some objects and enemies will have more features.
#2. Useful Controls (Super Mario Maker 2 Cheats and Tips)
Moving the cursor faster is achieved by holding the Y button, pressing X will hide the user interface. The B button can be used to undo changes and for zooming in simply pressing the thumbpad.
#3. Undocked? Try the touch controls (Super Mario Maker 2 Cheats and Tips)
Taking the Switch off the dock allows you to use the touch controllers, or even a stylus if you’d rather.
#4. Level Upload Limits (Super Mario Maker 2 Cheats and Tips)
Super Mario Maker 2 has upload limits for the levels you keep on your account. The game is limited to 32 levels on player accounts. We expect this level to increase in the future, so keep that in mind when creating new levels.
#5 Speed up using Objects (Super Mario Maker 2 Cheats and Tips)
With the game being loads of fun, we often find ourselves using the same objects. It can be tedious to have to scroll to the same object over and over. Well, simply by long pressing the object you can pin it to the bar, making it quickly accessible.
#6 Objects within Objects (Super Mario Maker 2 Cheats and Tips)
You might know this already, but you can put many objects inside of others. The trees, for example, can now hold power ups or coins. Checkpoints can also be given power ups in game.
#7 Hit the Switches (Super Mario Maker 2 Cheats and Tips)
Aside from making the blocks disappear and reappear, the switches also dim the lights! Please note, there are no on and off blocks in 3D world. Conveyor directions and spike blocks will also respond to these switches.
#8 Please Don’t Stop the Music
Orange blocks are music note blocks. When players bounce on them, they play, and each block makes a different sound depending on how high they are placed (enemies also make different sounds). You’ll have a blast creating your own melodies and sounds with this tip!
#9. Swap the Win Condition
Playing versus and it looks like you’ll be defeated? Have no fear, the game isn’t over yet! If you jump on an enemy’s head, even if it’s last minute, you can take the Win Condition! Keep this in mind when designing a Versus map, it’ll come in handy!
#10 Button Shortcuts
Playing with a controller is made even easier by using the shortcuts. Hold B will undo recent changes, tap L for the eraser. Tapping the triggers together brings up multi grab, which is perfect for moving, copying, or deleting multiple objects at once. Tapping select will make the level play. Holding select will bring you to the beginning of the course.
#11. Stopping the Scroll
Want to stop the vertical or horizontal scroll at any point in your stage? Draw a line of ground tiles across the length of your stage (either horizontally or vertically depending on your level layout). The line must be complete, any gaps won’t stop the level from scrolling. Hard blocks also work with this tip.
#12. Make your levels Complex
Levels in Super Mario Maker 2 can now be given Win Conditions. This basically means players cannot win the level until they complete all the achievements (objectives/conditions). If you wanted to, you can make the level only winnable after certain enemies are defeated. And while every possible combination isn’t mentioned in game, we think there’s plenty of room to get creative here.
Keep in mind enemies who are eaten by Yoshi, or that fall off screen do not count towards the Win Conditions goal.

Easy coins
Replay the indicated stages to earn lots of coins quickly and easily:
Job #55: Very consistent, easy level where you ride a car. Gets you 100+ coins per run. There’s a 50 coin in this level you won’t want to miss. If you get them all, you’ll earn a nice 117 coins.
Job #56: Another coin-hunting mission. This one requires 80 coins, but you can collect upwards of 100-150 per run.
Job #70: One of the quickest levels to grind. You can earn 80 coins in about 20-30~ seconds per run.
Job #76: This level has a standard completion challenge of 50 coins, so you have to earn at least that many to complete it. You can earn about 50-80 here — not too hard, but not too many coins, either.
Job #90: Another very late level, but it’s very short. It only takes about 30 seconds to complete, and gets you about 40-55 coins per run.
