Animal Crossing: New Horizons Is Out

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been out for about a week’s time. As a result, interested individuals should have no problems finding insightful information with which to ensure a smoother start-up than otherwise possible.

What Are Some Useful Tips For Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

Put these tips to excellent use for Animal Crossing: New Horizons:

Progress Is Gated By the Real Passage of Time

It is interesting to note that progress in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is gated by the passage of time in the real world. Since it starts out slow, this can be very frustrating for interested individuals. As such, it should come as no surprise to learn that some players have chosen to mess around with their console’s clock in order to speed up the progress. For those who choose to use this exploit, they should consider setting their console’s clock back by 7 to 10 days before getting started.

This way, they can bump up the time as needed to make faster progress through the initial part of the game until they are back on real time. In contrast, if they start setting the clock forward after they have already started playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, they are going to have to put up with a weird-looking clock setting forever, which can be irritating for some interested individuals.

Prioritize Your Starting Debt (Animal Crossing: New Horizons Cheats and Tips)

The player starts out with debt to cover the costs of moving. Perhaps unsurprisingly, paying the outstanding sum sooner will be better than paying the outstanding sum later, meaning that interested individuals should prioritize this over other considerations in the initial part of the game. Fortunately, the debt isn’t particularly huge, so this should be a simple and straightforward process.

On the plus side, interested individuals should know that once they have managed to pay the outstanding sum, they will unlock a wide range of things to make Animal Crossing: New Horizons that much more enjoyable for them. For example, they will be able to take out a new loan that can be used to finance their move from a tent to a house, which will be useful because the latter comes with in-built storage. Likewise, they will unlock new items, new recipes, and even new tasks that can be used to earn Nook Miles faster than otherwise possible.

You Need to Collect the Tools One By One

Tools are very important in the Animal Crossing series. However, interested individuals won’t be able to get their hands on a full set of tools right from the start. Instead, they can expect to get the recipes for both the Flimsy Net and the Flimsy Fishing Rod from Tom Nook on their first morning. After which, interested individuals can get the recipes for both the Shovel and the Vault Pole from Blathers, which is on top of the recipes for both the Slingshot and the Watering Can from the Nook nephews. Please note that it can take some time for the latter to show up in the shop, meaning that patience is recommended.

On the whole, these earliest tools might not be particularly impressive, but they will nonetheless see interested individuals through the earliest part of the game because they can be made using readily available resources. For instance, the player can get branches by shaking trees, stones by hitting rocks, and various kinds of wood by hitting trees. Eventually, there will come a point in time when interested individuals can upgrade to a better class of tools, but they should wait until iron nuggets become readily available.

You Are Going to Need a Lot of Iron Nuggets

Speaking of which, interested individuals are going to need a lot of iron nuggets, meaning that they might want to get used to gathering this resource as soon as possible. The sooner that they do so, the sooner that they can start building up a stockpile to see them through the game. Generally speaking, the player can go about doing this by hitting rocks with either a Shovel or a Stone Axe, which can yield not just iron nuggets but also other goodies such as bugs, clay, stone, and even money from time to time. However, this process won’t be fast enough for every player, meaning that they might want to save some Nook Miles for Nook Mile Tickets to remote islands that are stuffed full of resources.

Get the Inventory Upgrade (Animal Crossing: New Horizons Cheats and Tips)

In games such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons, interested individuals can expect to pick up a lot of items over the course of their play-throughs. Naturally, this means that inventory upgrades tend to be very useful, with this particular title being no exception to the rule. In short, it is possible to redeem a wide range of rewards using Nook Miles. However, one of the first things that interested individuals should get is the Pocket Organization Guide for 5,000 Nook Miles, which will provide them with another rung of inventory slots.

There is another inventory upgrade called Ultimate Pocket Stuffing that can be redeemed for 8,000 Nook Miles, but that one isn’t as important as its predecessor. Still, four rows of inventory slots is something that should prove useful for every Animal Crossing: New Horizons player, meaning that this is still something that they should set their eyes upon when they reach that point in the game.

Different Items Stack in a Different Manner

It is interesting to note that different items stack in different manners. For instance, interested individuals can put as many as 99 weeds in a single stack should they feel inclined to do so. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for more useful items, which tend to be more limited in this regard. For example, clay, wood, and stone have a maximum stack size of 30. Meanwhile, seeds, shells, and fruits have a maximum stack size of 10. Be warned that there are some items such as bugs, fish, and fossils that have a maximum stack size of 1, meaning that interested individuals should plan well when preparing to interact with such items.

Duplicating items (Animal Crossing: New Horizons Cheats and Tips)

Note: This glitch only works offline in Local Co-Op on the same Switch. This glitch was performed on an unpatched version of the game. It may eventually get patched. To avoid not being able to use it, do not update the game online or delete any patches installed for the game on your Switch. This glitch require two players (two controllers). You must have two accounts, each with a character. Then, use the Resident Call app on your Nookphone to invite the other account/character. This glitch only works with placed items, and not items like bells or materials.

Have player one place a desired item on the cardboard box or table. Have player two rotate the cardboard box/table, and then have player one grab the item while it is rotating (as the rotating player’s arms are coming back towards the box/table). Player one will get the item and the item will still remain on the cardboard box/table. Repeat this process as many times as desired. Two good items to duplicate are the ACNH Switch and Tarantula, both of which sells for over 8,000 bells. You get the ACNH Switch and cardboard box in the mail on Day 1.

Easy money (Animal Crossing: New Horizons Cheats and Tips)

Each day, one randomly chosen rock in your town will produce bells if you hit it with your shovel. You can hit it up to eight times, resulting in successively larger payouts per hit. Make sure to dig holes behind your character beforehand so they do not get knocked backward upon impact.

When you see a glowing gold crack in the ground, you will dig up either 1,000 bells or 10,000 bells. If you bury 1,000 or 10,000 bells, it will plant a tree which when fully grown divides what you planted by 3x.

Star fragments

If you see a shooting star, quickly press A to wish on it. The fragments will then wash upon the shore the next day.
