Watch Star Wars: Squadrons Trailer
EA has revealed Star Wars: Squadrons, which is a dogfighting game that seems to draw a fair amount of inspiration from its predecessors in the 1990s. The setting will be post-Return of the Jedi, meaning that interested individuals will be able to pilot for the New Republic as well as the Empire. Currently, there are eight pilotable ships that are split into one fighter, one interceptor, one support, and one bomber for each side.
For the New Republic, this means the X-Wing, the U-Wing, and the Y-Wing. Meanwhile, this means the TIE Fighter, the TIE Interceptor, the TIE Reaper, and the TIE Bomber. Of course, there will be other ships in the battles as well. For instance, the online mode “Fleet Battles” will consist of multiple missions, starting with a 5-on-5 dogfight, either an attack or a defense of a mid-sized capital ship, and then going up against either an Imperial Star Destroyer or a Mon Calamari cruiser.
