Sega has revealed more information about Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. Interested individuals might be familiar with the fact that there is already a Phantasy Star Online 2. As such, they might guess that Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is supposed to be an expansion of some kind. However, that isn’t the case. Instead, it is apparently an alternate version of its predecessor, though one that comes complete with a new engine, new visuals, new mechanics, and new content.
On the plus side, this means a familiar game with what will presumably prove to be better presentation. For instance, interested individuals should expect classes and other elements from Phantasy Star Online 2 to show up in Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, which makes sense because they are supposed to be alternate versions of one another. However, interested individuals should know that this better representation means an increased need for computing power. Something that they should look into sooner rather than later, particularly if they know that their system is outdated because this promises to be a next-generation game. Sign-up for the Japanese closed beta is set to continue until January 4 of 2021. In the meantime, interested individuals can check out the opening movie as well as other videos that have been released to get a better idea of what to expect.
