How to Play Co-op

When you load up House of the Dead Remake, select “New Game” to bring up a screen asking you which version of the game you want to play. It doesn’t matter which one you pick, but if you’re just starting, I recommend selecting Original. Now go to the bottom of the menu where it says “Multiplayer Mode” and make sure it’s set as “Enabled.” You will have two choices: Cooperative and Competitive. Pick the one you want and then select “Start a New Game” at the bottom. This will bring up the Nintendo Switch’s controller connect ability. You can use either Joy-Cons or the Pro Controller. At this time House of the Dead Remake has no online features, meaning co-op play has to be local.

House of the Dead Remake only allows you to play with one more person, and you cannot dual wield Joy-Cons to be both player one and two. However, MegaPixel Studios has already confirmed that an upcoming Cowboy Mode will let you play through the campaign as both users.

Playing with another person can make the game much easier, especially during boss fights where you need to constantly stun enemies. If you’ve been struggling and have someone else to play with, I suggest trying this multiplayer mode. Co-op can also make Horde mode much easier since you can deal with the increased amount of enemies on screen. This is also a great way to get the True Ending since you’ll need to beat the game with a Score over 62,000. Having another person to help deal with bosses or enemies will save you lives, which means you won’t need to spend points on retries once your continues are all used up!

There are also several achievements tied to co-op, such as Reinforcements, Partner, and Agent G. If you’re a completionist, you’ll absolutely want someone to help you out.
