How to Get Coins Faster
An easy way to gain coins in fastest amount of time possible is once you unlock Pac-Motos and have world 3-1 available keep repeating that level over and over. Doing so easily nets you over a 100 coins in 10 minutes. You can also combine that with world 1-1 being it is fast, but 3-1 gives you the most bang for you buck the fastest.
This will also help towards the coin based achievements such as Jangle Jangle, Coin Stash, and Hoarder.
